Pontarfynach, with its three bridges.. You will have the opportunity to descend ‘Jacobs Ladder’ to see the bridges and the waterfall below and hear about the devil who built the first bridge.
One of the largest metal mining areas in Mid Wales. Lead has been mined here since roman times.
Traveling down from the highlands we will pass five of the dams built to supply Birmingham with drinking water, marveling at the engineering needed to build this series of impressive dams.
After lunch we will head to the ancient market town of Llanidloes that used to be the center of the Mid Wales wool industry.
We stop at the base of a different dam wall, this time made of concrete. We will then stop at a viewing point overlooking the lake. You never know you may even see an Osprey fishing.
Onwards and upwards towards Dylife, another lead mining area that was home to some of the largest water wheels used in the lead mining industry. We will stop to admire the view of an iconic glaciated valley.
We visit the ancient capital of Wales Machynlleth, with the Owain Glyndwr Institute where Owain Glyndwr held his first Parliament in the 15th century. We then head back to Aberystwyth to complete our tour.
