Day 4: Welsh Highland Railway & Caernarfon Castle — Steam & Stone

 

Morning:

  • Depart Porthmadog on the Welsh Highland Railway through Snowdonia
  • Pass iconic locations like Beddgelert and Aberglaslyn Pass

Midday:

  • Explore Caernarfon Castle and/or the walled town, guided by Sean
  • Learn about Edward I, royal history, and Welsh resistance
  • Return to Porthmadog for overnight stay

DAY FIVE

Day 5: Boston Lodge Workshop Experience — Behind the Steam

 

Morning:

  • Enjoy a hands-on, four-hour experience at Boston Lodge Works, the oldest railway workshop still in operation
  • Participate in steam restoration, carriage maintenance, and engineering tasks
  • Learn from skilled staff and engage with Wales’ industrial heritage

Afternoon:

  • Tour concludes with farewell reflections and optional transport arrangements
